You’ll never hear the phrase “There’s nothing to do” uttered in Port Townsend. Around here the calendar is literally packed with fun. From the art and music events of Centrum to the delightfully offbeat Kinetic Sculpture Race and Rhody Pet Parade, Port Townsend is alive with entertainment. Here are a select few major happenings.

  • Wooden Boat Festival, September
    The Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival is the largest festival of its kind in North America. Celebrating the beauty, elegance and majesty of all types of wooden boats, the festival offers activities for wooden boat enthusiasts and novices alike, and activities for the entire family.


  • Port Townsend Farmers Market, May through October
    One of the largest Farmers markets on the peninsula, people come from far and wide to sample fresh local produce, flowers, herbs, plants, and all manner of baked goods, arts and crafts.


  • Rhododendron Festival, Mid-May
    Since 1936 the Rhododendron festival has delighted attendees with a week long celebration of the wild native flower. It includes a carnival, arts & crafts fair, and a dazzling parade full of bands, floats and royalty.


  • Port Townsend Film Festival, September
    Though long a backdrop for feature films such as An Officer and a Gentleman, Snow Falling on Cedars and The Ring, Port Townsend has recently added a film festival to its already busy events calendar. And it’s already proven a huge hit, attracting the best in small, independent film, as well as the sponsorship of Turner Classic Movies and appearances by the likes of Robert Osborne and Tony Curtis.
